Itching For a Cure: The Road to Chicago Fundraising Challenge
The 2009 PSC Partners Seeking a Cure Conference will be held May 1-3, 2009 in Chicago, IL, in conjunction with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The conference will be held at the Wyndham Chicago at 633 N. St. Clair.
Mile by mile we will walk/run/ride/swim across the country from Jacksonville, FL (site of our 2008 conference) to our next conference in Chicago, IL.
Please join us in our quest to find a cure by doing your part to help us meet an incredible fundraising challenge-to raise $45,000 between now and our conference in Chicago May 1-3, 2009. We have an anonymous donor who has very graciously offered to match donations to The Road to Chicago fundraiser dollar for dollar up to $45,000. Help us turn $45,000 into $90,000 for PSC research!!! This is an amazing opportunity for all of us as a group to pitch in and donate whatever we can, to contact family and friends or to hold local fundraisers. Every donation, no matter the amount, is welcome. To donate, just earmark your donation for the Itching for a Cure Fundraising Challenge/Road to Chicago. We can continue to increase the scope of our grants program and eventually find that elusive cure!!! Let’s show our anonymous donor that we can live up to our motto: Together in the fight, whatever it takes!
We have 1,000 miles to cover!! Let’s get going! Each mile is covered by raising $100.
Distance Traveled = 1,340 Miles = $134,000 Raised for Research, as of 05/04/09
% of Goal Attained = 134%, as of 05/04/09
We'll paint the road "red" to indicate our progress on The Road to Chicago.
You can raise your tax-deductible donation in groups or one person at a time. You can buy one mile, ten or twenty, or any number you choose.

Help us make a difference in the treatment of PSC. Every penny gathered, every dollar collected can become one hundred dollars and a mile. Everyone can participate and take part.
Until we make a better treatment possible, please advocate donor awareness. Donors will save lives as we search for treatment.

By now many of you have heard that our next PSC Partners Seeking a Cure conference will be held in Chicago, IL. Many members from our support group were at the conference in Jacksonville, FL. Everyone there was excited to learn that research is on the brink of some real breakthroughs. The experts let us know that now is the time to raise enough money to back the most promising research and also to get the attention of the new, young researchers eager to use the new information that is emerging.
We are making real progress at getting people to hear us and as we work to help ourselves, others will come to our aid. We encourage everyone to join us in this effort where we are the ones with the most to gain. It is ourselves, our loved ones and the newly diagnosed to come who might have a better treatment and avoid a liver transplant if we back medical research. It is those who have been transplanted who might avoid a second transplant if we can prevent recurrence of PSC with better treatments.
For those who are struggling with the next dollar, those of us who can, will raise in your honor. Everyone who raises $100 from family and friends can buy a mile!! As the year goes on we can all share our ideas on raising money from letter writing campaigns to honoring our family and friends with birthday and holiday donations. From saving our pocket change to movie night [Thanks Jeff and Reggie]. Be creative; be positive, we can do it because we are together in the search for a better treatment, whatever it takes. Let's get started!
