PSC Partners Seeking a Cure: Sample Letters to Family and Friends

The following are sample letters you might use as a template to send to family and friends to inform them about a family member affected by Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.

For our friends and neighbors who already know:

Dear _________ ;

As you know my son/daughter/husband/wife _________ has been diagnosed with a liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. I want to thank all of you for offering your prayers and help at what was a difficult time for us. Unfortunately there is no specific treatment or cure for this disease and its prognosis is uncertain. On the average, patients need a liver transplant in seven to ten years. Together with other families across the country we have worked with the medical community to start a foundation called "PSC Partners Seeking a Cure". Our web site is www.pscpartners.org. We hope to raise funds to facilitate research for treatment and a cure of this disease. It is our hope to prevent the necessity of a liver transplant. Our first conference had 82 attendees from 21 states, Canada and The United Kingdom. If you would like to know more, visit our companion web site at www.psc-literature.org. Please accept our sincere and heartfelt thanks for your caring and generosity.
